Emergency Financial Assistance

People in need of financial assistance or referrals to other community agencies should contact CJFS. CJFS receives a large number of calls and we are not always able to respond to all requests for emergency assistance.

Educational Scholarship and Loan Aid

The Jewish Educational Loan Fund (JELF) provides interest-free loans to Jewish students from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia for post-secondary education (undergraduate, graduate, and vocational schools). JELF’s loans supply the final funds that a student needs to attend school and are also need-based.

Jewish Free Loans of Charleston

Jewish or “Hebrew” Free Loan Associations have been providing interest-free loans to individuals across North America for over a century. There is a recognition that sometimes life throws a wrench in one’s plans, and that the support of the community can make the difference in how one is able to meet that challenge.

Charleston Jewish Family Services (CJFS) is excited to embark on a new initiative, Jewish Free Loans of Charleston, for helping individuals and families in the Charleston community—Jewish Free Loans of Charleston. Supporting one another through “life’s ups and downs,” we ensure the strength and vitality of our community now and into the future.
